The last week we had big class all together Blue Bird, Red Fox, White Owl.

The topic was Iceland Animals, focusing on Arctic and Antarctic animals and the class follow the calendar.

At first, we reviewed the 7 continents, this is new song and dance for Blue Bird.

We noticed that Antarctica is a continent but the Arctic has no land.

Then we learned about the penguins that live in Antarctica. We thought penguins were black and white animals, but we found out that there are many species and they come in many different sizes and designs.

After that We had fun time to make walking penguins. It was fun to make penguins with all kinds of cute designs. The penguins walking was so funny!

As everyone moved the toy penguins one after another, the penguins became so soft that they could no longer walk well💦.

The next day we learned about the animals in the Antarctic and found out that penguins live there🐧, and then we learned about the animals in the Arctic.

Amazing! How many kinds of animals live in the Arctic! We wondered why the same animals don’t live in the Arctic and Antarctic, even though they are both equally cold weather.

We also listened to the voices of the animals in the Arctic!

And today we made our own animal map of the Arctic and Antarctica!

Carnivores, Omnivores, Herbivores ♪ We sang the song “Carnivores, Omnivores, Herbivores♪” that we all sang together last year, and we all sang it again this year, remembering the song. Then, as we sang, we pasted the animal cards by category on the board.

The children read the descriptions of the animals on the back of the cards one by one, and noticed many things.

Some large animals were herbivores, some small animals were carnivores. What surprised the children the most was that dogs and birds are omnivores that eat both!

Pet birds and dogs don’t eat meat, right?

We find out krill and plankton were the smallest animals and polar bears were the largest and strongest in the Food Chain of Arctic animals.

After that We made a polar bear. First, we drew our own designs and colored with watercolors.

Our white bears were very cute not scary.

先週は、Blue Bird（年少）、Red Fox（年中）、White Owl（年長）クラス合同で授業を行いました。

トピックはアイスランドの動物で、北極と南極の動物に焦点を当て、カレンダーに沿って授業を進めました。

まず、7大陸の復習をしました。Blue Birdにとっては新しい歌と踊りです。

南極は大陸ですが、北極には陸地がないことに気がつきました。

そして、南極に住むペンギンについて学びました。ペンギンは白黒の動物だと思っていましたが、たくさんの種類があり、大きさやデザインもさまざまであることがわかりました。

そのあと、歩くペンギンを作る楽しい時間がありました。いろいろなかわいいデザインのペンギンを作ることができて楽しかったです。ペンギンが歩く姿はとても面白かったです。

みんなで次々とおもちゃのペンギンを動かしているうちに、ペンギンが柔らかくなってしまい、うまく歩けなくなってしまいました💦。

次の日は南極の動物について学び、ペンギンが住んでいることがわかりました🐧そのあと北極の動物について学びました。

「すごいね！」。北極には何種類の動物が住んでいるんだろう! 北極も南極も同じように寒い気候なのに、なぜ同じ動物が住んでいないのか不思議に思いました。

北極にいる動物たちの声も聞いてみました

そして、自分たちで北極と南極の動物マップを作りました。

肉食動物・雑食動物・草食動物♪　去年もみんなで歌った「肉食動物・雑食動物・草食動物♪」の歌を、今年もみんなで思い出しながら歌いました。そして、歌いながら、カテゴリー別の動物カードをボードに貼り付けました。

子どもたちは、カードの裏に書いてある動物の説明をひとつひとつ読んで、いろいろなことに気づきました。

ある大きな動物は草食系で、ある小さな動物は肉食系。子どもたちが一番驚いたのは、犬や鳥は両方食べる雑食性だということ！？

ペットの鳥や犬は肉を食べないですよね。

北極の動物の食物連鎖では、オキアミやプランクトンが一番小さく、ホッキョクグマが一番大きく、強いということがわかりました。

その後、シロクマを作りました。まず、自分たちでデザインを描き、水彩絵の具で色を塗りました。

白クマは怖くなく、とてもかわいくできてしまいました😊
