We did it great today! Thank you for a good weather.

Suikawari (スイカ割り, suika-wari, lit. Watermelon Splitting) is a traditional Japanese game that involves splitting a watermelon with a stick while blindfolded. Played in the summertime, suikawari is most often seen at beaches, but also occurs at festivals, picnics, and other summer events.

朝のサークルタイムでも練習をして、準備万端、みんなやる気満々！

In CHES version, we called it watermelon hitting. We used the plastic hammer to hit it. We also used the eye cover to experience more fun. Kids love to help friends by saying ‘go to the right’ or ‘go to the left’ and when ready then we say ‘hit the watermelon’.

After the watermelon splitting was over, everyone enjoyed the delicious taste!

今日もいい天気でしたね いいお天気に感謝です。

スイカ割り（すいかわり、Suika-wari）は、目隠しをして棒でスイカを割る日本の伝統的な遊びである。夏の海水浴場でよく行われるが、お祭りやピクニックなど、夏のイベントでも行われる。

朝のサークルタイムでも練習をして、準備万端、みんなやる気満々！

CHES版では、スイカ叩きと呼んでいます。プラスチックハンマーを使って叩きました。また、アイカバーも使って、より楽しく体験してもらいました。子どもたちは、「右に行って」「左に行って」と友だちを助け、準備ができたら「スイカを叩いて」と言うのが大好きです。

スイカ割りが終わったあとは、みんなでおいしくいただきました。
