CHESプリ・クラス植物
4月も下旬になり、CHES「プリ・クラス」も少しずつ落ち着きをとりもどしています。クラスの中が落ち着いてきたこともあり、4月のTopicである「Plant」についての学びを深めつつあります。そんな春の「プリ・クラス」White OwlとRed Foxクラスの様子です。
Spring is here!
Spring is here! Can you feel it? The weather is warm… or rainy! New leaves are growing… or falling off the trees! Spring is a season of change, and the world is changing bit by bit every day. We are experiencing it, and learning about it at the same time.
This week, we moved our focus from in the classroom, to outside the school. We started to talk about things that grow. We know that plants grow, but what are plants?
We made a list, full of grass, flowers, trees, even vegetables and fruits. We looked at a series of flashcards with all kinds of foods on it, and answered if it is something that grows or not. Plants are living things, and need nutrients just like we do!
春がやって来ました！ 実感できるでしょうか？ 天気は暖かい…そして雨。新しい葉が成長している…でも木から落ちてもいます。春は変化の季節で、世界は毎日少しずつ変化しています。私たちは季節の変化を経験し、同時に変化について学んでいます。
今週、私たちは教室の中から学校の外へと焦点を移しました。成長するものについて話し始めたのです。植物が成長することは知っていますが、植物とはなんなのでしょう?
私たちは草、花、木、さらには野菜や果物までをリストにしました。あらゆる種類の食べ物が書かれた一連のフラッシュカードを見て、それが成長するものであるかどうかを答えました。植物も生き物なので、私たちと同じように栄養が必要です。
Our next step
Our next step was to look at a particular thing that grows: a flower!
Flowers are a good example, because many other plants, like trees and bushes, also have flowers when they blossom. We looked at how flowers dig down with roots, and stand up straight with their stem. We talked about how it uses its leaves to get energy from the sun.
Simple plant parts we could remember, and making a small garden was fun, but we wanted to make more!
Today, we took the idea of flower parts and put them to paper. By remembering the stem, leaves, and flower, we would use construction paper to design our own flower. We could get creative with the shape and color, but some rules needed to be followed: a long thin stem, leaves on either side, and a colorful flower at the top!
Little by little, a garden is forming!
次のステップは、成長する特定のもの、つまり花を観察することでした。
花が良い例です。木や低木など、他の多くの植物も開花すると花を咲かせます。花が根を掘り、茎をまっすぐに伸ばしていく様子を観察しました。私たちは、葉を使って太陽からエネルギーを得る方法について話しました。
覚えられる簡単な植物のパーツで、小さな庭を作るのは楽しかったですが、もっと作りたいと思いました。
今日は花のパーツのアイデアを紙に落とし込みました。茎、葉、花を覚えて、画用紙を使って独自の花をデザインします。形や色については創造性を発揮できますが、いくつかのルールに従う必要があります。それは、細長い茎、両側に葉、そして上部にカラフルな花です。
少しずつ庭が出来上がってきました！
Five important things
We also talked about five important things that plants need to grow, which was something to think about for the garden.
- They need soil! This gives them nutrients and space to grow.
- Sun! The sun’s energy helps them make food, along with…
- Air! They can help keep the air we breathe fresh and clean, too.
- Next is water! Whether it’s rain or from a hose, plants need it to grow.
- Finally, time. Growth doesn’t happen in just a day. It takes lots of time!
We will continue to cultivate our paper garden, and hope to see the results in a little bit.
庭づくりについて考える、植物が育つために必要な5つの大切なことについてもお話しました。
- 植物には土が必要です！これにより、栄養分と成長するスペースが与えられます。
- 太陽！太陽のエネルギーは植物が食べ物を作るのに役立ちます…
- 空気！植物は私たちが呼吸する空気を新鮮できれいに保つのにも役立ちます。
- 次は水です！雨であろうとホースからであろうと、植物は成長するために雨を必要とします。
- 最後に、時間です。成長は一日にして成らず。すごく時間がかかります！
これからも紙の庭を育てていき、少しずつ成果が出てくることを期待しています。
Seed, sprout, plant!
And, naturally, we visited the real growing things outside! We go to the park at every chance we get. Today, we practiced our seed stretches! “Seed, sprout, plant! Seed, sprout, plant!”
そして、いつものように屋外で実際に栽培されているものを見に行きました。私たちは機会があるたびに公園に行きます。今日は「シード・ストレッチ」を練習しました。「Seed, sprout, plant! Seed, sprout, plant! 」
As the weather gets warmer, make sure to drink water! Just like plants, we need to drink, get energy, and breathe fresh air. We don’t need to sit in soil though, thankfully…😄
