1月9日（火）からCHESは再始動！ お正月休みでみんな少し退屈していたのか、朝から教室は再び活気に満ち溢れていました。1月から新しいお友だちも増えて、2024年も改めて英語で楽しく過ごしていきたいと思います。

Happy New Year! We’re back to school!

Did you have a good holiday? I hope everyone was able to enjoy the new year with family and friends. With everyone rested and ready to go, we had a lot of energy to spend today!

Yes, it was back to action right away. We started the day with a group circle time, where we sang and danced like usual. We introduced ourselves to new friends, practiced talking in front of others, and even shared stories of places we visited during the holiday.

良い休暇を過ごせましたか？ みんなが家族や友人と新年を楽しむことができたと思います。休んで準備万端なので、今日はエネルギーがあり余っていました。

そう、すぐに行動に移りました。一日の始まりはグループのサークルタイムで、いつものように歌って踊って、新しい友だちに自己紹介をしたり、人前で話す練習をしたり、休暇中に訪れた場所の話をしたりもしました。

Of course, we had a lot more energy after too. We headed right out to the park to make good use of the sunny weather. It was nice to visit the park together and play games! We enjoyed chasing each other and running from the Oni. Hm, is Setsubun coming soon?

Afterwards, we were finally getting a bit tired. And hungry, too.

We headed back to CHES to take a break and do some work before lunch. Red Fox and White Owl were working on a dragon craft to celebrate the new year. First, we needed to talk about why a dragon!

We looked at the zodiac and discussed the different animals and birth years. We saw that the dragon represented success, intelligence, and honor. That certainly bodes well for the year to come!

もちろん、そのあとも元気いっぱい。晴天を有効に使おうと、すぐに公園に出かけました。一緒に公園を訪れ、ゲームをするのは楽しかったです。一緒に追いかけっこしたり、（鬼ごっこの）鬼から逃げたり。そういえば、もうすぐ節分ですね？

その後、ようやく少し疲れて、お腹も空いてきました。

CHESに戻り、昼食の前に休憩とワークをしました。Red FoxとWhite Owlは、新年を祝うために龍の工作をしたのです。まず、なぜ龍なのかを話し合う必要がありました。

干支を見て、それぞれの動物と生まれ年について話し合うことに。その結果、龍は成功、知性、名誉を表すことがわかりました。それは確かに、来る年に向けて良い兆しです！

Meanwhile, Blue Bird had gotten a head start on the topic for January: transportation! They used their pencil and scissors to cut out a certain shape. What kind of vehicle do you think this is? Little by little, it became more recognizable. With only a few shapes, we can make a vehicle!

As the month goes on, we will continue to learn more about these things we see everywhere.

Red Fox and White Owl also worked on a paper that made them think about what new things they want to experience in the new year. Let’s make sure it’s a good one!

一方で、Blue Birdは1月のトピックである「乗り物」を先取りしていました。 鉛筆とハサミを使って、ある形を切り抜いています。これはどんな乗り物だと思います？ 少しずつ、それが認識できるようになってきます。わずかな形があれば、乗り物を作ることができるのです。

これから私たちはどこでも目にするこれらのものについて、さらに学び続けます。

Red FoxとWhite Owlは、新しい年にどんな新しいことを経験したいか考えるワーク・シートにも取り組みました。

It was a good day and a sunny day too. The kids were happy to see each other. Welcome back!

Happy New Year and Happy Year of the Dragon 2024. This year will be a lot of new friends for everyone. We hope to have more fun days this year 2024. We will do our best to make them happy while learning English.

CHESからの新たな提案

CHESの設立以来のテーマは、「小さな子どもたちの大きな可能性を英語力でお応援する」。

そこで、今回「小学生の間に英検準2級をめざすCHES Saturday Class」を開講し、単なる「英検対策」ではなく、基礎的な英語のルールを「学ぶ姿勢」、とっさに反応できる「英会話力」、自分自身の思いを「声に出せる思考力」も育み、お子さんの将来に活かせる英語学習を身につけることをめざすことにしました。

目標達成にはまず基礎的なルールを確実に学び、同時に練習する必要があります。そして、もしも目標を1つ達成することができれば、その「How to do」と「 What to do」が身につき、応用していくことで他の課題の目標達成にも役に立ち続け、お子さんの将来に活かせるはずです。
