2月のインターナショナル・プリスクールCHESのTopicは、「occupation（職業）」です。1か月かけてさまざまなお仕事について学んできました。今回は「pharmacist（薬剤師）」のママたちにスペシャル・ゲストとして来ていただくことができたので、その時のクラスの様子をご紹介します。

お仕事の内容を説明していただけるだけでもありがたかったのに、あたたかい心遣いをたくさんつめて「ハンドクリーム」まで準備してくださり、おみやげにいただくことができました。本当にありがとうございました！

Hello everyone!
On last Tuesday, it was Valentine’s Day! It was a special day for us, because we had saved some special, sweet treats to try out that day. No, not chocolate – it was the sweet potatoes we had gathered from the garden a while ago! Do you remember?

Happy Valentine’s Day at CHES

We spent the day talking about things we love, from the people around us to the things we like doing. Throughout the day though, the sweet potatoes were cooking, and we imagined the taste. Would they be good?

In the meantime, we worked on some papers that were all about what we love. Everyone is different, and we all offered different things that could be our favorite foods or toys or things to do! We put these directly into our scrapbooks.

That wasn’t it for the week though. We were expecting some special guests to help us with our topic of the month. What kinds of guests were they, do you think?

That’s right: they were some White Owl mommies coming to explain their jobs! They came to explain their jobs as pharmacists and to let us try making our own medicine.

We learned about viruses and medicines, and what pharmacists have to do! Some pharmacists work in hospitals, and some work in pharmacies where you can buy medicine. There are also many different kinds of medicine, like pills or patches or injections.

We carefully measured the ingredients…We cleaned our places with alcohol…We prepared our instruments…

Finally, we were ready to make our medicine!

We mixed the ingredients together, and chose what kind of smell we wanted to add to it. Then, after carefully putting the mixture into the container, we had done it! Our own hand cream!

Try it out at home!　Just like real medicine, we used a special envelope to keep the medicine inside. We wrote on the front our names, and what to use it for: “Use on your hands, when you get dry skin.”

We were happy to get an experience of other jobs that we could do when we grow up. The presentations were both fun and interesting.

That’s all for now. As February continues, we will talk about jobs we might want in the future, and who we will grow up to be.

There is a lot of talk about growing up at the moment… Could graduation be right around the corner?

みなさん、こんにちは。先週の火曜日は、バレンタインデーでしたね。この日、私たちは特別に甘いお菓子を取っておいたので、特別な日でした。チョコレートではなく、少し前に庭で採れたサツマイモでした! 　覚えていますか？

身の回りの人から好きなことまで、好きなことを語りながら一日を過ごしました。でも、一日中、サツマイモを焼いたので、味を想像していました。おいしいかな？

その間、私たちは自分の好きなものをテーマにしたペーパーをいくつか作成しました。みんな違っていて、好きな食べ物だったり、おもちゃだったり、やりたいことだったりと、いろいろなものを提示したんです。これらはそのままスクラップブックに貼っていきました。

しかし、この週はこれで終わりではありません。今月のトピックは、特別なゲストが来てくれることになっていました。どんなゲストだったでしょうか？

そうです、White Owlのママさんたちが仕事の説明にきてくれたのです 薬剤師の仕事の説明と、自分たちの薬を作る体験をしに来てくれたのです。

ウイルスや薬について、そして薬剤師の仕事について学びました。薬剤師には、病院で働く人もいれば、薬を買うことができる薬局で働く人もいます。また、薬には錠剤やパッチ、注射などいろいろな種類があります。

そして、慎重に材料を測り…アルコールで場所をきれいにし…器具を用意し…。いよいよ薬作りの準備に取り掛かりました。

材料を混ぜ合わせ、どんな匂いをつけるかを選びました。そして、丁寧に容器に入れたら完成です。自分だけのハンドクリームができました。

お家で試してみてくださいね。普通のお薬と同じように、専用の封筒を使って薬を入れました。表面には、名前と用途を書きました。「手が乾燥したときに使ってね」。

大人になった時にできる他の仕事を体験できてよかったです。発表も楽しくて面白かったです。今月はここまでです。2月も引き続き、将来就きたい仕事、成長した自分について話していきます。

今、成長についての話題が多いですね…。もしかしたら、卒業はすぐそこかも？
