あっという間に、2022年CHES夏のホリデー・クラスの5日間が過ぎ去ってしまいました。

初日の月曜日、ちょっとドキドキしながら参加した子どもたちも、日ごとに打ち解け、お歌やゲーム、お外遊び、工作も楽しく、一日が短く感じるような5日間でした。

Topic Timeでは先生のお話も気が付くとしっかり理解できていることに気が付き、学びを深めることができました。Mr.Seanの小学生が中心のクラスでは日ごとに様々なアイデアが飛び出すようになり、自分で文章を作ることにも積極的になっていくのを感じました。

クラスの中は、日本語ではなく英語。自分の知っている言葉を精一杯活用して、理解する、伝える。もどかしいけれど、そのぶん想像力を精一杯働かせて、お友だちと協力して、活動する。たった5日間ですが、毎日の活動を英語で過ごし、英語で学ぶ中で子どもたちの変化を感じることができてとっても嬉しかったです。

今回初参加のお友だちは「いつもの保育園よりCHESがいい！」と嬉しい感想とともに、ママにお願いして朝1時間も早く登園してくれました。

このようにたくさんのお友だちに楽しく参加していただき本当にありがとうございました。次回のHoliday Classで、また会えることを楽しみにしています。冬休みのホリデー・クラスもぜひご参加くださいね。

Summer Class of Younger Kids: Day 5

Good day!

We learned and played a lot this past week. Thank you for your support and cooperation. The younger kids expanded their learning about “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” book. They now know how caterpillars turn into beautiful butterflies. They learned about many yummy food. They made lots of cute crafts as well.

Today, we played with the craft that we did the past 2 days. It shows how a caterpillar makes a cocoon then turns into a tiny butterfly.

Our last craft for this summer class is designing our own butterfly. We drew what we liked and made it our own. The butterfly can spread its wings and fly!

And to wrap up the summer class, we had shaved ice for snacks. Yummy! Thank you, Ms. Masami!

Summer Class of Big Kids: Day 5

Hello everyone and welcome to the end of the week!

We had a great time in the class together and we hope that you did too. Even though the weather was super hot, we were able to enjoy ourselves both outside and inside.

With it being the final day in the week, we also talked about the final part of the circle of life: adulthood!

Adults have to do lots of things, like finding food, making new babies, and protecting their family. People have to do that too, but there are lots of things that people can do, and should do, that animals can’t.

We also talked about evolution, and what animals lived during the dinosaur period.

Whales, for example, are part of the mammal family, but live in the water. Why?

We discussed it together.

We had been to three different parts so far this holiday, so we got to choose which one to go to this final day.

The votes were in: small park was the winner!

We played frozen tag, and explored the park. It was a great way to spend our morning.

Afterwards, we continued working on our papers. With it being Friday, we had lots of ‘fr’ words to think of. Lots of children had already started to think of some, so it was really easy this time!

Finally, the time had come for a treat:

A shaved ice party for our hot afternoon! All the flavours were popular, and we all had a good time.

We played some fun circle games to wrap up the day.

And with that, the holiday class was over!

Thank you for joining us this year. We learned a lot and enjoyed ourselves at the same time.
