Most importantly though, we had fun!

Are you enjoying the warm weather? It’s a nice change from the rainy weekend, don’t you think?

With the weather so nice, we were certain to head to the park. We took care to drink a lot of water before, during, and after to make sure we were hydrated. We wore our hats to protect our heads from overheating, and we took lots of breaks while playing. Most importantly though, we had fun!

暖かい気候を楽しんでいらっしゃいますか？ 雨の週末から一転して、いいお天気だと思いませんか？ これだけ天気が良いと、私たちは決まって公園に向かいました。私たちは水分補給をするために、前、中、後とたくさんの水を飲むように気をつけました。帽子をかぶって頭を保護し、休憩をたくさん取りながら遊びました。でも一番大切なのは、楽しむことです！

Last week, our focus was on sight and seeing. We talked about eyes and how they work. This week, we will look at some of the other senses. Today, our focus was on hearing. We learned how the ears have sensitive little “drums” inside that can feel the vibrations of sound. We learned how cupping our ears can catch sound better. We sat quietly in the classroom and listened, to see what kinds of sounds we could hear.

先週、私たちは「視覚」と「見ること」に焦点を当てました。目について、そして目がどのように機能するかについて話しました。今週は、他の感覚について見ていきます。今日は、「聴覚」に焦点を当てました。耳の中には、音の振動を感じることができる小さな「太鼓」があることを学びました。耳をすませば、音をよく聞くことができることも学びました。教室で静かに座り、どんな音が聞こえるか耳を澄ませました。

At the park, we decided to try some more hearing experiments!

Similar to in the class, we sat quietly with our eyes closed to see what sounds we could hear. We could hear bees buzzing, people’s footsteps, laughing and talking, cars driving, wind blowing, and more! When we stop to really listen, our ears are amazing. They can hear so many different things!

We also talked about how our brains our the bosses in our body. The eyes, ears, and other organs all report to the brain. If we hear a sound we recognize, our brain can tell us what it means.

公園では、さらに聴覚の実験をしてみることにしました。授業と同じように、目を閉じて静かに座り、どんな音が聞こえるか確認しました。ミツバチの鳴き声、人の足音、笑い声、話し声、車の走行音、風の音などなど、いろいろな音が聞こえてきました。本当に耳を傾けてみると、私たちの耳は驚くべきものです。耳は、実にさまざまなものを聞き分けることができるのです！

また、私たちの脳は体の中でボス的な存在であることもお話しました。目や耳、その他の器官はすべて脳に報告しています。私たちが聞いたことのある音は、脳がその意味を教えてくれるのです。

The fun didn’t stop there, though.

Next, we tried a game where one person blindfolded themselves, and would try and catch the other friends without looking. When I called “Marco!”, everyone else needed to call out “Polo!” This way, I could use my ears to chase everyone down!

It was a lot of fun. We might try it again another day if we keep getting nice weather. We have some other sound experiments to try too, though, so let’s see!

しかし、楽しみはそれだけにとどまりません。次に、一人が目隠しをして、他の友だちを見ずに捕まえるゲームに挑戦しました。私が「マルコ！」と呼んだら、他のみんなも「ポロ！」と呼んでね。そうすれば、耳を使ってみんなを追いかけることができます。

とても楽しかったです。このまま天気が良ければ、また別の日にやってみようかな。
他の音の実験も試してみたいので、また今度！

Back at CHES

Back at CHES, made sure our flowers were watered, and also checked CHES garden. Our strawberries had ripened! It was time to pick them, or they would spoil. We took turns in the garden, picking the nicest ones we could find to share with everyone.

Before we got to eat them though, we started working on a craft. What it will become is a secret, but I’ll give you a hint: it has something to do with hearing. What sounds could we make with a tube like this?

CHESに戻り、花に水をやるのを確認し、CHESの庭もチェックしました。イチゴが熟しています。そろそろ摘まないと、腐ってしまう。交代で庭に入り、一番きれいなイチゴを摘んで、みんなと分け合いました。

しかし、それを食べる前に、ある工作に取り掛かったのです。どんなものになるかは秘密ですが、ヒントは、「聴覚」に関係するものです。この筒でどんな音が出せるかな？

Strawberry time!

Strawberry time! We did a good job waiting this long. It was time to taste how sweet and delicious they are.

Yummy! Some were sweet and some were not, but most of them were very tasty! We are lucky to have our own strawberry garden right at CHES. We only got to eat a couple though, so some people might have some cravings later…

ストロベリータイム！ みんなはちゃんとここまで待ちました。甘くておいしいイチゴを味わう時間でした。おいしい！ 甘かったり、そうでなかったり、でもほとんどのものがとても美味しかったです！ CHESにイチゴ畑があるなんて、ラッキーですね。でも、私たちは2つしか食べられなかったので、後で食べたくなる人もいるかもしれません…。本日は以上となります！　お読みいただき、ありがとうございました。これからも、暖かい春を楽しみながら、自分の感覚について学んでいきたいと思います。

The day was fine and it was hot!

First, circle time about our body parts.

1 Little Finger Song and practiced 2 Little Fingers for crab walk in the singing class. The crabs have 2 pinchers, we have 2 sets of fingers and the crabs walk sideways and we can do it too! It was fun!

Second, we had our singing class with Ms. Kumiko. We sang many songs and it was nice!

日中は晴れて暑いくらいでしたね。

まず、サークルタイムで体の部位について。1 Little Finger Songと、歌のクラスでカニ歩きのための2 Little Fingersの練習をしました。カニには2本のつまみがあり、私たちには2組の指があります。カニは横向きに歩くので、私たちもできるようになりました！楽しかったです！

次に、クミコ先生の歌の授業です。たくさんの歌を歌い、楽しかったです！

Then, we had our sentence practice ‘I like . . .

For examples: I like apple. I like banana. I like tomato. I like grapes. We used the kitchen toys for the fruits.

そして、「I like …」の文章練習をしてもらいました。例としては 私はリンゴが好きです。私はバナナが好きです。私はトマトが好きです。私はブドウが好きです。果物は、キッチンのおもちゃを使いました。

Happy Birthday!

It was simple, but we all celebrated the birthday together.

ハッピーバースデー！シンプルですが、みんなでお誕生日のお祝いをしました。
