Good afternoon everyone!

This September, our topic is The Earth. Because the Earth is so big and so important, we talk about many different things, from outer space to deep under the sea.

This week, we talked more about volcanos.

Volcanos are formed when magma rises up from the Earth’s crust and forms pockets under the ground. After pressure builds up, the magma bursts upwards through a hole in the ground, forming a volcano.

So today, we had a special event after lunch!

We watched videos about volcanos and learned about how they form and why. They were short and interesting, and a little bit scary!

Afterwards, we began our own experiment: to make a volcano erupt in our class!

We combined two kinds of kitchen ingredients that you might have in your house. Our magma would be made from baking soda. Then, we would add vinegar to be the pressure.

What would happen?

Wow! We really made our own volcano.

It had a bit of a stinky smell, but it really looked real!

If you want to make your own volcano at home, it’s easy! Just make sure you are ready to clean it up.

みなさん、こんにちは。

今年の9月のトピックは「地球」です。地球はとても大きく、とても重要なので、宇宙から海の底まで、さまざまなことを話します。

今週は、火山について詳しくお話しました。火山は、マグマが地殻から上がってきて、地中にポケットができることで発生します。圧力がかかると、マグマが地面の穴から吹き出して、火山ができます。

ということで、今日はお昼ご飯の後にスペシャルイベントを行いました。

火山についてのビデオを見て、火山がどのようにできるのか、なぜできるのかを学びました。短くて面白く、ちょっと怖いくらいでした。

その後、自分たちのクラスで火山を噴火させる実験を始めました。

家にあるような台所用品を2種類組み合わせました。マグマは重曹でつくります。そして、圧力になるようにお酢を加えます。

ちょっとお酢のにおいがするけど、本物みたいでしょ？

お家で火山を作るのは簡単です。ただ、後片付けができるように準備しておいてくださいね。
