9月のTopic「地球」は、一見あいまいでとっつきにくいテーマに思いますが、子どもたちの知的好奇心はどんどんひろがっていき、地球から宇宙に飛び出してみたり、海にはいって動物をみたり、地球にやさしい「再利用」を経験したりと、子どもたちの反応をみているだけでもとても楽しいです。

そして、9月18日は「敬老の日」。日本の「敬老の日」に似たお祝いは世界にもありますが、敬老というよりもどちらかといえば「祖父母」に対して感謝を表す日のようです。そこでCHESでは、いつもお世話になっているおじいちゃん・おばあちゃんにスペシャル・プレゼントをみんなで準備することに。プレゼントを準備している子どもたちはとても楽しそうでしたよ。

Mother Earth

Last week, we embarked on an educational journey to understand the importance of Mother Earth. We gathered around the classroom globe and, discussed about the Earth`s shape, colors, and its location in the space. Now the kids know that the Earth looks green, blue and white.

After that we also learned that Earth is in space and there are other planets out there, some very hot and some very cold. We are lucky to have Earth to live on!

And then we learned about mountains, which are super tall and tough to climb. We also remembered what we talked about before about oceans and ocean animals. The kids did a great job remembering!

先週、私たちは母なる地球の大切さを理解するため役に立つ旅に出ました。教室の地球儀を囲み、地球の形、色、宇宙での位置について話し合ったのです。子どもたちは、地球が緑、青、白に見えることをもう知っています。

また、地球は宇宙にあり、外には他の惑星があること、とても暑い惑星もあれば、とても寒い惑星もあることも学びました。地球に住める私たちは幸運です。

そして山について学びました。山はとても高く、登るのは大変。海や海の動物についても、前に話していたことを思い出しました。子どもたちはよく覚えていたのです。みんな素晴らしい！

Reuse and Reduce

This week, we learned two important words: reuse and reduce. These words help us take care of the Earth and keep it clean.

So, we had fun doing crafts using plastic bottles and milk cartons. We made plastic bottle airplane, rabbits and cute cat pencil holders. The kids had a blast making them. We also worked on special gifts for Grandparent`s Day, showing how much we care about our grandparents.

Our last two weeks have been full cool Earth facts; earning about mountains and oceans, and making fun crafts. We`re excited for more adventures in the coming weeks!

今週、私たちは「再利用」と「再利用する」という2つの重要な言葉を学びました。これらの言葉は、私たちが地球を大切にし、きれいに保つのに役立ちます。

そこで、ペットボトルや牛乳パックを使った工作を楽しみました。ペットボトルの飛行機やウサギ、かわいい猫の鉛筆立てを作りました。子供たちは大喜びでした。また、祖父母の日のために特別なプレゼントも作りました。

この2週間は、山や海について学んだり、楽しいクラフトを作ったりと、素晴らしい「地球」にたくさんふれることができました。これからの冒険はもっと楽しみですよ！

Happy Grandparents Day!

For our PE class, we practiced the sports day games with Ms. Yuki. In this week also, we keep on skipping here. Let’s do it at home too.  Let’s visit the park over the holidays so we can skip a lot.

On Monday will be Grandparents Day, give them a hug and kisses. We have special presents for them because they always take care of us. They are very kind too.

CHES All Teachers

体育の授業では、Ms.Yukiと一緒に運動会の練習をしました。今週もスキップの練習は続きます。家でもやってみてくださいね。 連休中に公園に行って、たくさんスキップしましょう！
