先週の晴れた日、「プリ・クラス」の年長クラス全員で、今年も卒園旅行に「こども本の森 神戸」に訪問させていただきました。

昨年同じように訪問させていただいた際には、「CHESの子どもたちは行儀が良いですね」と、もったいないお褒めの言葉をいただいたので、今年のWhite Owlのみんなは、果たしてこれまでと同じように行動できるのかと、実は出発前には心配していたのです。

ところが、いざ出発してみると、電車移動の際から帰路につくまで、見事にまとまって行動することができました。担任のMr. Seanも書いている通り、まさに卒園後、CHESから広い世界へ飛び立つ準備はできているようです。みんなの成長を実感できた素晴らしい卒園旅行になりました。

Our trip to the Children’s Book Forest📚

Our non-stop March has already been full of many fun days, and today was another one of them. White Owl was able to go on a field trip without bringing along any of their younger friends. This time, it was just for the graduates. It definitely had a more carefree feel!

We left Maiko station on a train to Sannomiya. The train was a bit crowded, but we chose a good car and found enough seats for everyone, even if we were split up.

White Owl was able to handle themselves well and stick with their buddies, making sure to sit down. We rode the train for about 20 minutes, pointing out landmarks along the way and talking about elementary school.

ノンストップな3月は楽しい日々でいっぱいでしたが、今日もまた楽しい一日です。White Owl（年長クラス）は年下のお友だちを連れて行かずに遠足に行きました。今回は卒園生だけの遠足。いつもより気楽な雰囲気でした。

舞子駅から三ノ宮駅行きの電車に乗りました。少し混んでいましたが、ちょうど良い車両を選んだのでバラバラになっても全員分の席を確保できました。

White Owlのみんなは落ち着いて、お友だちと一緒にきちんと座ることができました。約20分間電車に乗りながら、沿線のランドマークを指さしたり、卒園後に通う小学校の話をしたりしていました。

Flower Road

When we arrived, we headed down Flower Road. We passed art installations, beautiful flower gardens, and splashing fountains. We looked at maps, crossed streets, and commented on construction. We could walk briskly and yet take our time. It was clear that White Owl were big kids by now!

We took a short break in the City Hall building and rode the elevator up to the 24th floor. We looked down on the city around us and spotted all sorts of interesting things in the distance. After that, we walked through the park and before long, we arrived at our destination.

三ノ宮駅に到着すると、フラワーロードを歩き始めました。Art Installations（彫刻などの芸術作品）、美しい花壇、そして水しぶきを上げる噴水を通り過ぎました。地図を見たり、道路を渡ったり、工事現場の様子を話したりしました。早足で歩きながらも、ゆっくりと歩くことができました。White Owlはすっかり成長したようです。

神戸市役所で少し休憩し、エレベーターで24階展望ホールまで上がりました。街を見下ろしながら、遠くに様々な興味深いものを見つけました。その後、公園を散策し、あっという間に目的地に到着です。

The Children’s Book Forest

The day was sunny, so we were happy not to be too cold. We played for a short while in the small park nearby, climbing on giant books and peering through locked bars. By the time we had finished our picnic lunch, it was time for our appointment at the Children’s Book Forest!

The librarian took us in and read us some stories. The first was a fun one about dripping chocolate sauce. Thankfully we had just finished lunch. Otherwise, it would have made us way too hungry!

The second was a warm story about a girl who was looking for what made her special. We hoped that our friends would be able to tell us what makes us special too!

晴れた日だったので、あまり寒くなくてよかったです。近くの小さな公園で少し遊び、大きな本のオブジェに登ったり、鍵のかかった鉄格子を覗いたりしました。ピクニックランチを終える頃には、約束の「子どもの本の森」の時間になりました。

司書さんが私たちを招き入れ、お話をいくつか読んでくれました。最初は、とろけるチョコレートソースについての楽しいお話「『たれてる』鈴木のりたけ（著）」でした。ありがたいことにちょうどランチを終えたばかりでした。そうでなければ、お腹が空いすぎていたでしょう。

2つ目は、自分の特別なものを探している女の子についての心温まるお話「『ええところ』くすのきしげのり(著) ふるしょうようこ (イラスト)」でした。クラスのお友だちにも、私たちの特別なところを教えてもらえたらいいなと思いました。

We went over the rules, and then it was free time. The whole library was open to us! White Owl explored, finding both interesting books and interesting nooks to read them in.

Some found books we had read in class; some found books with some curious contents; some found books that made them laugh. There was something for everyone. By the time we had to leave, no one wanted to go. There was still so much more to read!

図書館でのルールを確認した後は自由時間です。図書館全体が開放されていました。子どもたちはは館内を探検し、面白い本と、それを読むのにぴったりの素敵な場所を見つけました。

授業で読んだ本を見つけた子もいれば、ちょっと不思議な内容の本を見つけた子もいれば、思わず笑ってしまう本を見つけた子もいました。みんなそれぞれに楽しめるものがありました。帰る頃には、誰も帰りたがりません。まだまだ読みたいものがたくさんあったのです。

They are ready to take on the rest of the world

However, just like White Owl’s year at CHES, everything has to end sometime. We humbly put the books back and headed home without incident.

For White Owl, it was a very freeing and comfortable trip, and good sign that they are ready to take on the rest of the world. For me too, it was nice to see that White Owl can handle themselves when they need to.

We only have a couple more weeks together, but we will make the most of them. That’s all for now. Cherish the memories you made today, White Owl!

しかし、White OwlのCHESでの1年間と同じように、全てはいつか終わりを迎えます。私たちは丁寧に本を戻し無事に帰路につくことができました。

White Owlにとって、とても自由で心地よい旅となり、これから新しい世界に挑戦する準備が整ったことを示す良い兆しになりました。担任の私にとっても、White Owlが必要な時に自分で何とかできる力があることが見られて嬉しかったです。

一緒に過ごせるのはあと2週間だけですが、精一杯頑張りましょう。今日はこれでおしまいです。White Owlのみんなは今日の思い出を大切にしてくださいね。
