冬休みも終わり、みんな元気に「プリ・クラス」に帰ってきてくれました。さっそく休み中の出来事をみんながいっせいにお話するので、クラスはわいわいがやがやとおお賑わいです。

1月になりTopicも「乗り物と建物」に替り、さっそく各クラスではいろいろな角度からお話が始まりました。

そしてなによりもみんなのお楽しみは、先週末に控えていた「お餅つき」。さっそく練習も始まり、こちらもおお賑わい。実際のお餅つきの様子は画像が整理でき次第、お知らせしますね。

Hello everyone and welcome back from the holiday!

I hope everyone was able to enjoy their time, whether it was relaxing or exciting. On Monday, I was able to hear many excited voices from students telling me what they did or where they went. A lot of people even saw snow!

The weather here is not too bad. We are still able to comfortably go to the park each day and enjoy the fresh air. We have been running a lot and practicing throwing and catching balls. Today, we even got to try flying a paper airplane in the windy air! It was fun to see what we talked about in class happen in real life.

みんな、こんにちは。冬休みからおかえりなさい！

リラックスした時間も、刺激的な時間も、皆さんが楽しい時間を過ごせたことを願っています。月曜日は、みんなからなにをしたか、どこに行ったか、興奮した声が聞こえてきました。雪を見たという子どもたちも多かったです。

CHES周辺の天気はそれほど悪くありません。毎日公園に行って、新鮮な空気を吸うのも気持ちいいです。たくさん走ったり、ボールを投げたりキャッチしたりする練習をしました。今日は風が吹く中、紙飛行機を飛ばすことにも挑戦しました。授業で話したことが実際に実現しているのを見るのは楽しかったです。

Yes, since it is January, our topic is vehicles and buildings. We mostly have a strong understanding of what a vehicle is, but on Monday, I challenged the class. Do we REALLY know what a vehicle is? Of course, a car or a train is a vehicle, but what about a roller coaster? A horse? An elevator?

We discussed what it meant to be a vehicle, and we ended up with even more questions. In life, there isn’t always a clear answer 😝

そうです、1月になったので、今月のテーマは「乗り物と建物」です。乗り物とはなにかについては、だいたい理解しているのですが、月曜日にクラスのみんなに質問してみました。「乗り物って本当はなに？」。もちろん車や電車は乗り物ですが、ジェットコースターはどうでしょうか？ 馬は？ エレベーターは？

乗り物とはなにかについて話し合った結果、さらに多くの疑問が生まれました。人生には、必ずしも明確な答えがあるとは限りませんからね😝

Our focus for now was on flying vehicles like planes and rockets. We talked about how birds fly, and how it is so different from airplanes. We talked about the things we learned in the holiday class, such as how rockets are just used like an engine to power spaceships like space shuttles.

We talked about how vehicles need power to make them move, no matter what they are. Electricity, gasoline, even people power!

We enjoyed folding our own paper airplanes today. We made them aerodynamic so that they could glide far. We tested them in CHES park, along with some of the big kids who were visiting today. It was fun to practice aiming our shots as well as testing out how our own creations flew.

今回は飛行機やロケットのような空飛ぶ乗り物に焦点を当てました。鳥がどのように飛ぶのか、そして飛行機とどう違うのかについて話しました。ホリデークラスで学んだこと、例えばロケットはスペースシャトルのような宇宙船を動かすエンジンのように使われていることなどについても話しました。

乗り物にはどんな種類であっても、動くためには力が必要だということも話しました。電気、ガソリン、そして人力でさえも！

今日は紙飛行機を折って楽しみました。遠くまで滑空できるように空気力学に基づいた飛行機を作りました。今日遊びに来ていた大きな子どもたちと一緒に、CHES公園で飛行機の飛行実験をしました。狙いを定める練習をしたり、自分たちで作った飛行機がどう飛ぶか試したりするのは楽しかったです。

We did other things too, such as write about our holiday and vehicles. We listened to a new song together and decided on actions to dance to it. We are only few days into January, but we are having lots of fun.

There are only three months left of the school year! We will soon be thinking about graduation and what comes next. For now, let’s enjoy the season and do some mochi pounding together on Friday.

他にも、休日のことや乗り物について書くなどの活動を行いました。一緒に新しい曲を聴き、それに合わせて踊る動きも決めました。1月に入ってまだ数日ですが、とても楽しく過ごしています。

今年度の学校生活もあと3ヶ月となりました。間もなく卒業とその後について考える時期が来ます。いま季節を楽しみ、金曜日に一緒に餅つきをしましょう。
