今年も明石市立天文科学館への見学にRed FoxとWhite Owl（年中・年長学齢）のみんなで行ってきました。これまでは七夕にあわせてのプラネタリウム見学だったのですが、今回は少し時期をずらせて「天の川の秘密」を観させてもらうことにしました。

テーマが「天の川」だったので、自然と宇宙へのイメージがひろがったのか、展示室ではみんなそれぞれの展示に興味津々。事前に宇宙について確認していたこともあり、一日を通して楽しく過ごすことができました。

さすがに暑さはこたえたようで、帰りの電車の中では「寝たふり」😝それでも到着するやお迎えのパパやママに元気に楽しかったことを報告していましたよ。

次回の遠足は10月の「神戸須磨シーワールド」。リニューアル後、CHESでは、はじめての企画になります。次回の遠足もみんなで楽しもうね。

The Secret of the Milky Way

We just returned from an exciting visit to the Planetarium in Akashi. It was a fun-filled day with plenty of new and interesting discoveries. I am happy to say that everyone did a great job following the rules and staying safe, even though there were many other kids there. Well done!

Recently we have been talking all about living things and animals. As we discussed the origins of animals and life, we talked about the Earth, and how much of it is water. Then, going from there, we talked about our solar system, the role of the sun, gravity, and more.

There are many things in space that are like legends to kids. Black holes, shooting stars, and even the planets closest to us seem like simply our imagination. But by learning about them and how they work, it helps to get the point across that space is real, and it is so unbelievably big.

明石市立天文科学館への楽しい見学から戻ったところです。新しい発見や興味深いことがたくさんあり、充実した一日でした。たくさんの子どもたちがいた中でも、みんなはルールを守り安全に過ごせたことを嬉しく思います。よくできました！

最近、私たちは生き物や動物についてたくさん話しています。動物や生命の起源について議論する中で、地球やその大部分が水で覆われていることについて話しました。そこからさらに、太陽系や太陽の役割、重力などについて話し合いました。

宇宙には子どもたちにとって伝説のようなものがたくさんあります。ブラックホールや流れ星、そして最も近い惑星さえも、まるで想像の世界のようです。しかしそれらについて学び、その仕組みを知ることで、宇宙が現実であり、信じられないほど広大だということを理解するのに役立ちます。

Part 1: The Train Ride

We started the day with a spring in our step! Because it was only Red Fox and White Owl, we had more freedom over what we could do. We already knew the rules, and we made our way to the train for the ride over. We were excited for what we might see at the Planetarium!

It didn’t take long on the train. Before long, we were at our stop, and we got ready to walk. Before we could though, we noticed the Planetarium from the train platform!

We could see plenty of markings that would lead us in the correct direction. Art, posters, and even plaques depicting constellations gave us something to look at on the way. After only a little bit of walking, we were there. Even just a little bit of walking in the hot sun made us tired though, so we were thankful for the shade and even the cool mist that was sprayed on us when we arrived.

Now that we were there, what would our first step?

私たちは足取り軽く一日をスタートさせました。参加者がRed FoxとWhite Owlだけなので、行動の自由度が高かったのです。ルールは既に把握していたので、電車に乗って移動することにしました。プラネタリウムでなにが見られるのか、ワクワクです。

電車はあっという間に到着。すぐに降りて歩き始める準備を整えました。でもその前に、ホームからプラネタリウムが見えたのです。

道すがら、正しい方向へ導いてくれる標識がたくさんありました。アートやポスター、星座を描いたプレートなど、見るもの全てが楽しい場所でした。少し歩くだけで到着しました。ただ、炎天下の中を少し歩くだけでも疲れてしまうので、到着すると日陰と、涼しいミストが吹きかけられて本当にありがたかったです。

さて、到着したら、まずなにから始めましょうか？

Part 2: The Gallery

Our show was scheduled for later, so for now, we had some free time. We used it by heading up to the gallery on the third floor. There were many rooms filled with different displays, from clocks and time to rockets and meteorites. We had a small meeting, and then separated to explore as we liked!

The day before, we had practiced our space vocabulary, learning things like “universe”, “star”, and “gravity”.　This would be a good chance to see if we could understand what was on display.

There really was a lot to see, including a new display about the first picture of a real black hole. This only happened recently, so it was interesting to see what a black hole really looks like! We talked a bit about it and saw a funny camera that showed how black holes distort and pull in light. We even saw a picture of the black hole within the big model of a galaxy.

パート2：展示室
私たちが観る予定のプラネタリウムには少し自由時間がありました。この時間を利用して、3階の展示室へ向かうことに。時計や時間からロケットや隕石まで、様々な展示が並ぶ部屋がたくさんありました。短い打ち合わせをした後、それぞれ自由に探索することにしました。

前日、宇宙関連の言葉を練習し、「宇宙」「星」「重力」といった言葉を学んでいました。展示内容を理解できるかを確かめる良い機会です。

実際に見るべきものは非常に多く、特に最近撮影された実在するブラックホールの画像に関する新展示が印象的でした。ブラックホールが実際にどう見えるのかを知るのは興味深い体験でした。みんなで少し話し合った後、ブラックホールが光を歪め吸い込む様子を映す面白いカメラを見学。銀河の巨大模型内部に写し出されたブラックホールの画像まで目にすることができました。

Part 3: Climbing The Tower

After this, we had an important tradition to fulfill: we needed to climb to the observation deck on the 13th floor of the building! It was high up, but we seemed to have a lot of energy still, so we went for it. Every flight of stairs was a new month, and we went all the way from April to December before reaching the top.

The view was beautiful, and we used it to look down on the train tracks we came in on, the road we walked along, and even the park we would visit later. We even caught a glimpse of the famous Red Ranger giving a talk to some people on the street below!

We got a chance to visit the sundial deck as well, and to try the human sundial. The time was accurate! This was a good place to play and relax before our show started.

第3部：展望台までの登り
その後、果たすべき大切な伝統がありました。ビルの13階にある展望台まで登らなければならなかったのです。高い場所ですが、まだ元気はたっぷりあったので、思い切って登り始めました。階段の一段一段が新しい月日を表しており、頂上にたどり着くまでに4月から12月までを登り切りました。

眺めは素晴らしく、来た時の線路や歩いた道、後で訪れる公園まで見下ろせます。なんと下の通りで有名なレッドレンジャーが人々に話しかけている姿もちらりと見えました。

日時計デッキにも立ち寄り、人間日時計を体験しました。時間は正確！プラネタリウムが始まる前の遊びやリラックスにぴったりの場所でした。

Part 4: The Secret of the Milky Way

It was soon time for our show to start! We made sure we had restroom checks and then filed into the room. It was fairly busy, but there were still plenty of seats for us to be together. We settled in for an interesting show!

We enjoyed 50 minutes of stories, stars, and even a quiz! We learned about the Milky Way, and how it is made entirely of stars, even if it does look like milk, or clouds. We learned about our solar system and where it is in our galaxy. We learned about all kinds of constellations and even the stars that make them up.

It was both entertaining and interesting. By the time it was finished though, we were starting to get hungry. I think it was about time for lunch.

第4部：「天の川の秘密」
間もなくプラネタリウムの開始時間です。トイレチェックを済ませ、列を作って会場へ。結構混んでいましたが、みんな一緒に座れる席は十分にありました。興味深いプラネタリウムを楽しむ準備が整いました。

50分間にわたり、物語や星々、クイズまで楽しみました。天の川について学び、たとえ牛乳や雲のように見えても、実は星々だけでできていることを知った。太陽系や銀河系における太陽系の位置、様々な星座とその構成星についても学びました。

楽しくて興味深い内容でしたが、終了時にはお腹が空いてきました。そろそろ昼食の時間だったようです。

Part 5: The Park

The mini park that we usually use at the Planetarium was not available this time, so we headed up the road to a bigger park to try! It was big enough for us, but we soon found that the park was a popular place for bugs, too! We ate up our lunch, played tag, hunted for cicadas, and enjoyed our cooldown time before heading for the train again.

We were tuckered out by this time! It was a full day of exploration and discovery. The train ride back wasn’t long, but some of us liked to pretend we were sleeping anyway… That’s the sign of a busy day!

It was a great time at the Planetarium this time. Hopefully every child learned a lot and has stories to talk about when they get home. It’s a great place to visit with your kids another time too, because every display in the gallery has so much history and curious questions about it.

Our next big trip will be Suma Sea World in October. I hope we can have just as much fun, or more, on that day.

第5部：公園
プラネタリウムでいつも使っている小さな公園が今回は使えなかったので、道を進んで大きな公園に行ってみることに。十分な広さでしたが、すぐにその公園が虫たちにも人気の場所だと気づきました。お昼ご飯を食べ、鬼ごっこをし、セミを探し、電車に戻る前のクールダウンタイムを楽しみました。

この頃にはみんなぐったり。探検と発見に満ちた一日でした。帰りの電車は短かったけれど、寝たふりをする子も…これが充実した一日の証です。

今回のプラネタリウムは本当に楽しかったです。子どもたち全員がたくさんのことを学び、家に帰ってから話す話題がたくさんできたことでしょう。展示室には一つ一つ深い歴史や興味深い疑問が詰まっているので、お子さんとまた訪れるのに最適な場所です。

次回の大きな遠足は10月の須磨シーワールドです。その日も今回と同じくらい、いやそれ以上に楽しめることを願っています。
