インターナショナル・プリスクールCHES

「プリ・クラス」では引き続き、さまざまな方向から動物のTopicの学びを深めているのですが、この日は授業で登場した少し不思議な魚、「テッポウウオ」になりきってみんなで公園へ。

CHES始まって以来の初めてのアクティビティだけに、事前に着替えを準備してこの日を楽しみにしていた子どもたちは、想定以上に大はしゃぎ。テッポウウオのように上手くターゲットに命中させらるのかを試すはずが、どんどん楽しくなってきて、最後はみんなびしょ濡れ状態。靴まで濡れてしまうのは、さすがに想定外。

それでも、夏休みでお休み中の卒園生たちも参加してくれていたおかげもあって、みんな羽目を外し過ぎず秩序を守ることができ、楽しいアクティビティになりました。夏の暑い日にはぴったりのアクティビティだけに、これからCHESの定番アクティビティになるかもしれません👍

Archer Fish

After our crafts earlier this week about animals, sea animals, and more, we were ready for a fun day today. We had made some fun little cups to use at the park, but what would we use them for? We were about to find out!

A hint for you: the secret animal that we talked about yesterday was… the archer fish!

Have you heard about this kind of fish before? Archer fish live in rivers and mangrove forests in Asia. They are very unique because they have a special way of hunting for their food. They can use their mouths to shoot a stream of water out of the river, and hit their target above!

After the small insect or crab tumbles into the water, they gobble them up. We watched a video about them and talked about their interesting and unique adaptation.

今週初めに動物や海の生き物などをテーマに工作をした後、今日は楽しい一日の準備ができました。公園で使う小さな楽しいカップをいくつか作りましたが、何に使うのでしょうか？もうすぐわかります。

ヒント：昨日お話しした秘密の動物は…テッポウウオです！

この魚について聞いたことがありますか？テッポウウオはアジアの川やマングローブ林に生息しています。彼らは特別な方法で餌を探し、とてもユニークな特徴を持っています。口を使って川から水を噴射し、上にあるターゲットを攻撃するのです！

小さな昆虫やカニが水に落ちると、それを丸呑みします。テッポウウオに関するビデオを見て、興味深くユニークな適応力について話し合いました。

And then, we learned something else: today at our waterplay event, we would be archer fish!

The cups with animals on them that we made would be our targets, and we would get toy water guns to shoot water out. Could we shoot as accurately as the fish could? We would find out!

We prepared in the morning, making sure we were hydrated and ready to go. After getting to the park, we had a quick lesson on how to use the water guns. We fired them off all at once to make sure we understood how they worked. It was almost like fireworks!

そして、もう一つ学びがありました。今日の水遊びイベントでは、テッポウウオになることになったのです。

自分たちで作った動物の絵が描かれたカップをターゲットにおもちゃの水鉄砲で水を発射します。テッポウウオと同じくらい正確に撃てるでしょうか？確かめてみることにしました。

朝から水分補給をしっかりして準備万端。公園に着いたら、水鉄砲の使い方を簡単に教えてもらいました。使い方をしっかり理解するために、一斉に発射してみました。まるで花火のようです。

Target Tests

After that, we had a series of target tests.

Round after round, we tried aiming our water spouts at different things to knock them down or splash them. We shot at balloons, bubbles, our cup targets, and even teachers! We soon got the hang of it, and it was fun to try and aim for far away targets.

After some drink breaks, we had completed all the training rounds. It was time for free time!

その後は、いくつかのターゲットでテストを行いました。

順番に水鉄砲を様々なものに向け、倒したり、水しぶきを上げたりしてみました。風船、シャボン玉、カップのターゲット、そして先生までも！すぐにコツをつかみ、遠くのターゲットを狙うのも楽しかったです。

飲み物休憩を挟んで、すべてのトレーニングラウンドを終えました。いよいよ自由時間です！

We got wet!!

We ran around in the park and invented our own games. We fired at the targets more, we aimed for our own targets, and we chased our friends around.

By now, we had gotten pretty wet, but we did our best not to get completely soaked. We would have to walk back to CHES, after all.

公園を走り回り、自分たちでゲームを作りました。ターゲットを狙う回数を増やし、自分たちで決めたターゲット的を狙い、友だちを追いかけ回しました。

この頃には、私たちはかなり濡れていましたが、完全にずぶ濡れにならないように最善を尽くしました。結局、CHESまで歩いて帰らなければならなかったからです。

びしょ濡れになってしまいました！

But sometimes, in controlled environments, that’s okay. We made sure to dry ourselves off as best as we could before heading back to CHES. The sun helped to dry us too.

We had a lot of fun, but we also talked about how water is an important thing. We are lucky to be able to spend a day playing with water. Living things all over the world need water to grow and thrive.

August is coming to a close soon, but we still have plenty to talk about, including how our planet Earth is special. We know that water covers most of it, and that living things all came from the water. What more will we learn? Let’s find out together!
