もうすぐクリスマス。「プリ・クラス」では、すでにクリスマス・モード一杯です。この日は、みんなでクリスマスにちなんだクッキーをつくることにしました。

年少学齢以下の子どもたちは、「Snowball Cookies」。生地を上手に丸めるていくことに少し苦戦していましたが、丸めていく間にどんどん上手くなって、まさにクッキー工場のようにたくさんのSnowball Cookiesができあがりました。

そして、年中学齢以上の子どもたちは、「Gingerbread Man Ccookies」。さすがに手慣れた様子で、それぞれ思い思いのイメージでアイシングした楽しそうなGingerbread Manを上手に作っていました。

今年の最終日まで、もうあと2週。かぜをひかないようにみんなで楽しんでいきましょうね。

Let’s make cookies! Special Christmas Baking

Christmas Day is getting closer, and we can already feel the joy in the air. We are not only learning about Christmas itself, but also making it more engaging through songs, crafts, and activities.

Today was one of those fun days because we had a cooking event. The kids had been looking forward to it all week, and I think it was worth the excitement 😊

クリスマスの日が近づいてきて、もう喜びの空気がクラスに漂っています。クリスマスそのものについて学ぶだけでなく、歌や工作、アクティビティを通して、クリスマスをより楽しく過ごしています。

今日は、クッキング・イベントがあったので、とても楽しい一日でした。子どもたちは1週間ずっと楽しみにしていたので、その期待に応えられたと思います😊

Our (Yellow Kangaroo & Blue Bird) activity was making cookie shapes that looked like snowballs! We took the dough, rolled it into balls, and worked like busy bees.

Everyone tried their best to make their cookies look nice. In the end, it looked like a cookie factory because we had so many cookies to bake.

After the cookies were baked, we carefully covered them with powdered sugar by putting them in a plastic bag. We shook the bag, and the sugar coated the cookies, making them look like snowballs. Then, we placed them in cups to take home.

Yellow Kangaroo & Blue Bird（年少学齢以下）のアクティビティは、雪玉のようなクッキー作りでした。生地を丸めてボール状にし、みんなは、まるでミツバチのように忙しく作業しました。

きれいにクッキーを作ろうと一生懸命頑張ったのです。たくさんのクッキーを焼いたので、最後はまるでクッキー工場のようでした。

クッキーが焼き上がったら、ビニール袋に入れて粉砂糖を丁寧にまぶしました。袋を振ると、粉砂糖がクッキーに絡みつき、雪玉のような形になりました。そして、カップに入れて持ち帰りましたよ。

Christmas Cookies

Traditionally, gingerbread cookies or “gingerbread men” are made at Christmas time. These cookies use an almost spicy kind of dough using ginger. It is more of an adult taste though, so our gingerbread cookies are in shape only 😄

We (Red Fox & White Owl) did talk about various traditions this week, however, including the history of Santa Claus.

The idea is that there was an old toymaker who saw that many people in his town were poor and unhappy at Christmas time. As a gift, he made many toys, and then secretly put them into the chimneys of houses at night time, when everyone was sleeping. When the children woke up the next day, they found new wooden toys to play with!

伝統的に、ジンジャーブレッドクッキー、または「ジンジャーブレッドマン」はクリスマスの時期に作られます。このクッキーは、生姜を使ったスパイシーな生地を使っています。大人向けの味なので、私たちのジンジャーブレッドクッキーは形だけです😄

Red Fox & White Owl（年中学齢以上）のクラスでは、サンタクロースの歴史など様々な伝統について、今週はお話しました。

クリスマスの時期に町の多くの人々が貧しくて不幸なのを見て、ある年老いたおもちゃ職人がプレゼントとしてたくさんのおもちゃを作り、夜、皆が寝ている間にこっそりと家の煙突に放り込みました。翌朝、子どもたちが目を覚ますと、新しい木のおもちゃが見つかり、遊んでいたのです。

It is a nice idea, and one that we follow to this day. At Christmas time, we do our best to share what we have with those who have less. So, at CHES, it’s fun to talk about what we would want to get for Christmas, but we also talk about what we would love to give, too.

Next week is going to be all about Christmas decorations and fun, so look forward to that.

これは素敵なアイデアで、私たちは今でもそれを実践しています。クリスマスの時期には、持っているものをできるだけ少ないものしか持っていない人たちと分かち合います。ですからCHESでは、クリスマスに何をもらいたいかという話をするのも楽しいですが、何をあげたいかについても話します。
