2月の「プリ・クラス」では、Topicの「お仕事：働く人々」をテーマに、さまざまな事柄を学んできましたが、いよいよ最終週をむかえ、今度は自分たちで実際に「働く」体験を実感するために商品の発案から「レストラン」を運営していくことに。さっそく売れ筋と決定したのが、スウィーツ系ばかりなのですが…、果たして無事に「レストラン」オープンすることができるのでしょうか。

Let’s Open a Restaurant!

Just like that, February is more than halfway over. Each day is one step closer to graduation and the end of the school year. Are you feeling it? Spring is almost here!

One annual event that we have at CHES is the yearly bazaar. Do you know what a bazaar is? It usually describes a kind of market where there are many shops with various things for sale that were made or collected by the owners.

In February, we have talked about all kinds of jobs, and even did our own in the form of class duties. Now, we will show our classmates that we can do a great job at running a market!

あっという間に2月も半分が終わりました。卒業と学年末に向けて、毎日一歩ずつ近づいています。実感はありますか？ 春はもうすぐそこです！

CHESの恒例行事のひとつに年に一度のバザーがあります。バザーって知っていますか？バザーとは、「市」のようなもので、たくさんのお店が並び、お店の人が作ったものや集めたものなど、いろいろなものが売られていることろです。

2月、私たちはいろいろな仕事について話し、クラスの担当という形で自分たちの作業もしました。今度は、私たちがマーケットを運営する立派な仕事ができることをクラスメートに見せてあげましょう！

To run a bazaar, we will need shops, employees, and products. We began by brainstorming ideas. We talked about what kinds of products we would want to sell. We wanted to sell something that would be popular. Just like real stores, we looked at previous years to see what did well. Last year, the desserts shop sold out quite quickly…

That was it! This time, we would theme our whole bazaar like a restaurant. We switched our brainstorming to foods we thought would be popular and we would like to sell, and we chose teams for each. In a few minutes, we had:

1. Donuts
2. Waffles
3. Ice Cream
4. Hamburgers
5. Bubble Tea (Tapioca)

バザーを運営するには、店、従業員、商品が必要です。まず、アイデアを出し合うことから始めました。どんな商品を売りたいのかを話し合いました。人気が出そうなものを売りたかったのです。実際の店舗と同じように、過去の実績を調べました。去年は、デザートのお店があっという間に売り切れてしまっています。

そういうことだったのか。今回は、バザー全体をレストランに見立てることに。話し合いを、人気がありそうなもの、自分たちが売りたいと思うものに切り替え、それぞれのチームを決めました。数分後には

1. ドーナツ
2. ワッフル
3. アイスクリーム
4. ハンバーガー
5. バブルティー（タピオカ）

As commented by some White Owls, everything is unhealthy😔! It was interesting that we all chose desserts or junk food… I guess that is what sells the most, after all!

Next, it was time for teamwork! One thing we knew about jobs and working is that if we want to do a good job, we need to put in the work. As a team, we gave each other jobs, we colored, cut, and designed, and worked together to make an attractive product.

The bazaar will take place next week. Hopefully our credit cards will allow us to take out enough money to shop!

次はチームワークの時間です！仕事と働くことについて私たちが知っていたことの 1 つは、良い仕事をしたいのであれば、努力する必要があるということです。チームとしてお互いに仕事を与え合い、色を塗ったり、カットしたり、デザインしたりして、力を合わせて魅力的な商品を作りました。

バザールは来週開催されます。クレジットカードで十分な買い物ができるようになればいいですね!

In other news

In other news, we could feel the end of the year in a couple other places too. One of them was in our singing and pianica class with Ms. Kumiko!

White Owl had worked hard for two full years, and could now play pianica songs with no sheet music in front of their class. They were awarded certificates for their hard work. Red Fox, you will be next if you try your best!

Instead of pianica from now until the end of the year, each Wednesday will be full of singing practice! We want to do our best for the graduation ceremony in March. We have a lot of fun singing and dancing together.

他のニュースとしては、他のいくつかのクラスでも年度末を感じることができました。そのうちのひとつは、Ms. Kumikoの歌とピアニカのクラスです。

White Owl は丸 2 年間一生懸命練習し、今では楽譜のないピアニカの曲をクラスの前で演奏できるようになりました。その努力に対して賞状を授与されました。Red Fox、頑張れ! 次は君たちの順番です。

これから年度末まで毎週水曜日はピアニカの代わりに歌の練習三昧です！ ３月の卒業式に向けて頑張りたいと思います。一緒に歌ったり踊ったりしてとても楽しいです。
