2月にはいり、「プリ・クラス」のTopicが「お仕事：People at Work」に替わりました。このTopicにあわせて、最初のSpecial Guestとして垂水警察署から警察官の方々にきていただきました。

今年もMagicを使いながら楽しく交通ルールを復習。そしてみんなが大好き、でもちょっと頼りない「Ken-chan」が登場。特に春には新1年生になるWhite Owlの子どもたちには、いい経験になったと思います。

Police Visit!

We had a special guest come today, one that we were anticipating since last year. Since we just began the topic of people at work, it was perfect to start with a community helper that we see every so often and think about a lot. That’s right, the special guest was the police!

Police officers from Tarumi Police Station came in their patrol car to visit. They came to teach us about the rules of crossing the street, as well as to make sure that we remembered them. The rules are not just something to think about, but something to really follow when we are out and about!

We were good at keeping rules, and we cross the street every time we go to the park. So, let’s show off what we know!

今日は昨年から楽しみにしていたスペシャルゲストにお越しいただきました。「働く人」のTopicが（2月から）始まったばかりだったので、時々みてよく知っている地域で活躍する方々から始めるのは完璧です。そう、スペシャルゲストは警察官だったのです！

垂水警察署の警察官の方がパトカーに乗って訪問。道路を横断する際のルールを教えてくれて、それを忘れないようにするために来てくれたのです。ルールはただ考えるだけのものではなく、外出するときに実際に従うべきものです。

私たちはルールを守るのが上手で、公園に行くときはいつも通りを横切っています。それでは、私たちが知っていることも披露しましょう！

Our Own Badges

Before they arrived, we had something to do. We wanted to give a good impression, so we decided to make our own badges to show that we are little police officers too!

We made the badges out of paper, cardstock, and tin foil. We designed them to look nice, and then put them all together. We were able to do it pretty quickly! By the time we were done, we really looked like a police force! Before we knew it, the police had come and we went downstairs to meet them.

After introducing themselves, they began to talk to us about the rules of crossing the street. The officer started with traffic lights, and how the recognizable colors each have specific meanings and things we need to do.

警察官が到着する前に、私たちにはやるべきことがありました。良い印象を与えたかったので、私たちも小さな警察官であることを示すために、独自のバッジを作ることにしたのです。

バッジは紙、厚紙、アルミホイルで作りました。見栄えが良くなるようにデザインして、すべてを組み合わせました。かなり早くできました。終わったときには、本当に警察のように見えました。気が付くと警察官が到着、会うために階下に行きました。

自己紹介の後、道路を横断する際のルールについて話し始めました。警察官は信号機から始め、見分けがつく色がそれぞれ決まった意味を持ち、私たちがしなければならないことを説明してくれました。

Rules for Crossing the Street🚥

Green means go, but we need to be cautious and always wait before we go. Yellow means careful, but it also means don’t go if you see it before you start. Red means stop. That one is easy!

The police officer had an interesting way of teaching us: a magic notebook! The notebook was empty, but if we made sure the knowledge was packed into our brain, we could catch it and pass it onto the book. We clearly saw the empty pages of the book… but after we said the magic words, the book was full of the traffic light color we talked about!

It really was magic! But the police officer asked us to keep it a secret. Make sure not to tell anyone, okay?

緑は行くことを意味しますが、行く前には用心深く、常に待つ必要があります。黄色は注意を意味しますが、黄色になったら行かないでくださいという意味でもあります。赤は停止を意味します。それは簡単です！

警察官は私たちに興味深い方法を教えてくれました。それは魔法のノートです。ノートは空でしたが、知識が頭に詰め込まれていることを確認すれば、それを本に伝えることができます。本の空のページがはっきりと見えました…しかし、私たちが魔法の言葉を言った後、本は私たちが話した信号機の色でいっぱいになりました。

まさに魔法です。しかし警察官は私たちにそれを秘密にしてほしいと言いました。誰にも言わないようにしようね。

Ken-chan!

We listened to the police talk about many things, and we did well to remember them. We had a surprise (not really a big surprise) visit from everyone’s favorite puppet, Ken-chan! As usual, he made plenty of mistakes, but we did well to correct him. He said he was looking forward to seeing us next year, and we are too!

警察官からいろいろな話を聞き、よく覚えていました。みんなが大好きなパペットのケンちゃんがサプライズで（というほどのサプライズではありませんが）登場しました。いつものように、彼はたくさんのミスをしましたが、うまく修正することができました。彼は来年会えるのを楽しみにしていると言ってくれました、そして私たちもそうです！

Let’s be careful!

I would like to ask everyone to keep these rules in mind, especially for White Owl who will be going to grade 1 in April. You might be walking to school, and you might even be walking without your parents. Remember to stop, check, and raise your hand. Remember that we can’t expect drives to always stop for us. Let’s be careful!

That goes for people crossing the street in front of CHES as well. Make sure to look before you walk. We are lucky to not have any accidents yet, and hopefully it stays that way!

特に4月から1年生になるWhite Owlのみんなはは、このルールを守って欲しいと思います。1年生になると学校へ歩いているかもしれませんし、両親なしで歩いているかもしれません。立ち止まって確認し、手を上げることを忘れないでください。ドライバーが常に停止してくれると期待はできないことに注意してください。気をつけていきましょう！

それはCHESの前の通りを横切る時にも当てはまります。歩く前に必ず見てください。幸運なことに、まだ事故は起こっていないので、この状況が続くことを願っています。
