立春が過ぎたのに、まだまだ寒い日が続きますね。「プリ・クラス」の節分は、恵方巻あり、豆まきありと盛沢山のActivityでした。

まずは「プリ・クラス」のみんなで鬼の面を作り、ランチタイムには恵方巻を食べ、1年の幸せを祈った後に、なんと鬼が出現！ あらかじめ用意していた新聞紙を丸めた「豆」を力を合わせて投げつけて見事退治。こうしてふたたびCHESは平和を取り戻すことができたのです。めでたし、めでたし😝

A Special Day

Today was a special day dedicated to a special celebration, Setsubun! Setsubun is a festival held on the day before the beginning of spring according to the Japanese lunar calendar. For this day, we followed some traditions to bring good luck into our lives this year as well.

After having our circle time as usual, we got started with preparing for our craft. As expected, we decided to make an Oni mask to make this day a bit scarier and more exciting. Please be careful, the kids have plans to scare you with their masks. Or they may have already done so! 😂

今日は節分という特別な日でした。節分は、日本の旧暦による立春の前日に行われるお祭り。この日のために、今年も私たちの生活に幸運をもたらすいくつかの伝統に従いました。

いつものようにサークルタイムを過ごした後、工作の準備を始めました。予想どおり、この日を少しでも怖く、より刺激的なものにするために、鬼のお面を作ることにしました。注意してください、子供たちはマスクでママ・パパを怖がらせる計画を立てています。あるいは、すでにそうしているかもしれません😂

Making of an Oni Mask

We got together in the big room and got down to business. First, we started by coloring the masks. Red and blue were the popular colors since they represent the real colors of Oni.

After coloring our masks, we continued by drawing a scary mouth and eyebrows. Some of our Oni turned out to be cuter than scary, though😊 Then, we got some scrap paper and cut out pieces for the horns and the nose. In the end, this is how it looked! We had a class full of Oni. How scary!

私たちは大きな部屋に集まり、作業に取り掛かりました。まずはマスクの色付けから始めました。赤と青色は鬼を表す色なので人気がありました。

マスクに色を塗った後、続いて怖い口と眉毛を描きました。なかには怖いというよりも可愛い鬼もいました😊 次に紙の切れ端をつかって角と鼻の部分を切り出しました。最終的にはこんな感じになりました。クラスは鬼で一杯。なんと恐ろしいことでしょう。

The Special Sushi

Then, lunchtime came. Today, we worked like busy bees. Ms. Masami joined our class for our lunch session. She told us that she had a special sushi made just for Setsubun. She showed us all the steps she followed to make the special sushi, and we watched in curiosity.

We were all so interested in seeing the maki roll get bigger and bigger. She put some special ingredients inside, such as eggs, cheese, and carrots.

そして、ランチタイムがやって来ました。私たちは蜂のように忙しく動き回りました。Ms. Masamiがランチタイムにクラスに参加。節分のために特別なお寿司を作ってくれるとのこと。彼女は特別な寿司を作るためのすべての手順を私たちに見せてくれたので、みんな興味津々で見ていました。

巻き寿司がどんどん大きくなるのを見ることにとても興味を持っていました。彼女は卵、チーズ、ニンジンなどの特別な材料を中に入れます。

We were still not sure how it was going to turn out! Then, it was time to cut it. By the time she cut the special sushi and showed it to us, we could see and understand why it was special. The sushi had an Oni face! We put some seaweed pieces for the eyes, and it was ready!

We got our own sushi and got ready to eat it silently while facing the lucky direction of this year. It was west-southwest. We placed an Oni mask on the wall to make sure that everyone got the direction correctly. We ate it silently and wished for a happy year.

どうなるかはまだ分かりません。いよいよ巻き寿司を切る時が来ました。Ms. Masamiが特別な寿司を切って私たちに見せたとき、なぜ特別なのかを理解することができました。お寿司に鬼の顔があったのです。目の部分に海苔を入れて完成です。

自分たちで寿司をもらって、今年の恵方を向いて黙々と食べる準備をしました。西南西です。全員が方向を正しく理解できるように、壁に鬼のお面を置きました。みんなで黙って巻き寿司を食べて、幸せな一年を祈りました。

Throwing Beans to the Oni

The last activity of the day was throwing beans to the Oni! Our beans looked a bit different than actual beans because we used newspaper to make our own.

We went downstairs to CHES Park to listen to a story first. Mr. Sean read us an interesting story that involved Oni and we dived into their interesting world while waiting for Oni to come to CHES.

We were so calm because we were already prepared. Then, it was the time! We saw three different Oni in the CHES park and threw all the beans that we have to them. It was a win! We defeated them all and made CHES Oni-free again😊

この日の最後のアクティビティは、鬼たちへの豆まきです。新聞紙を使って自分で豆を作ったので、実際の豆とは少し違っていました。

まずは話を聞くために、階下のCHES Parkに行きました。Mr. Seanは鬼に関する興味深い物語を読んでくれたので、鬼がCHESに来るのを待っている間、私たちはその興味深い世界に飛び込みました。

すでに準備ができていたので、とても落ち着いていました。さあ、その時が来ました。私たちはCHES Parkで3匹の異なる鬼を見て、持っている豆をすべて投げました。勝利です！ 全員倒して鬼のいないCHESに復活させました😊
