実は、今月、9月1日にインターナショナル・プリスクールCHESの「プリ・クラス」は、新年度初日から数えて、100日目を無事に迎えることができたのです。当日は、まず「100日目はいつなのか？」をみんなでカレンダーの日にちを数えながら確認。そして4月から毎月ごとに学んできたそれぞれのTopicについて振りかえっていきました。

とはいうものの、やはりみんなの注目は「100 Days Party!」。今年はMaritozzoに似せて、パンにクリームをはさみ、持ち寄ったフルーツを入れて、各自オリジナルのMaritozzo!?を作って楽しみました。

こうして新年度初日から振り返ってみれば、みんな本当に成長してきました。これからも、みんなでさらに成長できるように楽しんでいきましょうね。

100 Sweet Desserts for 100 Days at CHES!

Today was a special day at CHES because it marked our 100th day of the school year. In the morning, we double-checked the calendar together, counting up holidays and weekends and subtracting them from each month.

We got to use our math skills as well as our knowledge of how many days each month has! In the end, we counted 99 days… That means today is #100!

今日はCHES「プリ・クラス」にとって特別な日でした。なぜなら、今年度の登校日数が100日目を迎えたからです。朝、みんなでカレンダーをよく確認し、祝日や週末を数えて各月から差し引いていきました。

算数の力だけでなく、各月の日数についての知識も活用することができました。最終的に数えてみると99日……つまり、今日が100日目ということになったのです。

What does this mean?

This means we have come to school in the morning 100 times and went home happy 100 times. This means we ate lunch with our friends and played 100 times. This means we enjoyed learning about different topics, studied hard, and had exciting experiences 100 times. We sang the good morning song and the goodbye song 100 times!

But most of all, this means that all the students in CHES have had 100 chances to learn from their teacher and friends about how to be a good student and friend. We have more than 100 days of school left, so let’s consider this a milestone.

From now, we should do our best to improve even more.

これはどういうことでしょうか？ 私たちが朝学校に来て、幸せな気持ちで家に帰ることを100回繰り返してきたということです。友だちと一緒にお弁当を食べ、遊ぶことを100回経験したということです。さまざまなことを学び、一生懸命勉強し、ワクワクするような体験を100回楽しんだということです。「おはよう」の歌と「さようなら」の歌も、100回歌いました。

しかしなによりも大切なのは、CHESのすべての生徒が、先生や友だちから「よい生徒」「よい友だち」であることについて学ぶ機会を100回持てたということです。学校生活はまだ100日以上残っていますから、これを一つの大きな節目としましょう。

これからは、さらに成長できるよう、みんなで頑張っていきましょう。

We used today to look back on the things we learned. We went over the topics of all the different months and what we remember from them. In circle time, we even sang one song that we learned from each month, and picked one that best matched the topic.

Later on, we also challenged ourselves to write 100 numbers on our paper, to really understand how many 100 of anything is! We also did a connect-the-dots worksheet with 100 dots. It really was a day of 100s!

今日は、これまでに学んだことを振り返る一日を過ごしました。各月のトピックや、それらについて覚えていることをみんなで確認しました。サークルタイムでは、各月に習った歌を実際に歌ったり、その月のトピックに一番ぴったりの歌を選んだりもしました。

その後、「100」という数がどれくらいの量なのかを実感するために、紙に1から100までの数字を書くことにも挑戦しました！ さらに、100個の点を結ぶワークシートにも取り組みました。まさに「100」づくしの一日でした。

Making 100 delicious desserts!

Of course, this was all just practice for the real event: making 100 delicious desserts! On the menu today was Maritozzo, an Italian cream bun that would be fun and easy to make.

As the teachers cut slices in the buns, the students grabbed generous amounts of whipped cream and filled up the buns. Some students wished for more and some for less, so each student put as much as they thought was appropriate inside.

We ended up with some buns absolutely filled to the brim, and others with just enough to taste sweet.
It was a good selection from our cast of chefs!

もちろん、これらはすべて本番に向けた練習に過ぎません。本番とは、美味しいデザートを100個作るという大仕事です！ 今日のメニューは、楽しく簡単に作れるイタリアのクリームパン「マリトッツォ」でした。

先生がパンに切り込みを入れると、生徒たちはたっぷりのホイップクリームを手に取り、パンの中に詰めていきました。クリームを多めに入れたい子もいれば控えめにしたい子もいたので、それぞれが「これくらいがちょうどいい」と思う量を詰めていきました。

中にはパンから溢れんばかりに詰まったものもあれば、ほんのり甘さを感じる程度のものもあり、シェフたちによる個性豊かな仕上がりとなりました。

Time to Eat!

Now came the part we’ve all been waiting for. Time to eat! We ate the Maritozzo alongside our lunch. It definitely had a special feeling and helped to remind us that it was a day to remember.

At the end of the day, we read from a book that had 100 facts about Planet Earth. Even now, we were finding 100s everywhere! As the month of September begins, we will enjoy the topic of the Earth and all the secrets and science it holds.

いよいよ、みんなが待ちに待った時間の到来です。おやつの時間です！ ランチと一緒にマリトッツォをいただきました。特別な気分を味わいながら、この日が思い出に残る一日であることを改めて実感しました。

一日の締めくくりには、地球に関する100の事実が書かれた本を読みました。ここでもまた、「100」という数字に出会ったのです。9月に入り、私たちはこれから、地球というテーマや、そこに秘められた数々の秘密、そして科学の世界を存分に楽しんでいきます。
