6月になり「プリ・クラス」のTopicは「All About Me」から「Everything I Love」へ。これまで5感を通して、なにをどのように感じるのかを確認してきた子どもたちは、自分たちが好きなこと、好きなもの、そしてさらに「好き・愛」について考え始めました。

「愛」については、さらに「家族愛」と「友情愛」について話し合い、この日はさまざなゲームを楽しみながら「友情愛」を体験することができました。

成長とともに自我が確立していくなか、「好き・嫌い」の意思表示も明確になりがちなこの時期。このようなゲームで体感できたチームワークの「友情愛」を、日々クラスで一緒に過ごす子どもたち同士、これからも大切に育んで欲しいと心から願います。

June is here! All Kinds of Love💖

June is here, and we have a nice, long month full of experiences ahead. The topic is “Everything I Love”. So, we should start with a question: what does “love” mean?

Love has a lot of different meanings in English. When I asked the children about what they thought, I received many different views. Some said you could only use the word “love” for other people. Some said it just means “like”. The truth is, all the different opinions were true. Love means a lot!

For our class, we split the word into three different meanings: “Like” love, Family love, and Friendly love.

6月になりました。これからたくさんの素敵な体験が待っている長くて楽しい月です。テーマは「私が愛するものすべて」。まずは質問から始めてみましょう。「愛」とはどういう意味でしょうか？

英語では「愛」には様々な意味があります。子どもたちにどう思うか聞いてみたところ、実に多様な意見が出ました。「愛」という言葉は他の人に対してしか使えないと言う子もいれば、「好き」という意味だと言う子もいました。実際、どの意見も正しいのです。「愛」には実に多くの意味があります。

クラスでは、「愛」を「好き」という意味の「愛」、「家族愛」、「友情愛」の3つの意味に分けて考えてみました。

“Like” love is just what it sounds like: it’s when you like something a lot! Toys, animals, food, games… It can be anything. If you really like it, you might express yourself using the word “love”. I love playing soccer! Cats are so cute, I love them! Do you like oranges? Yes, I love oranges!

Family love is also very simple. When you are in a family, you share a special kind of bond. You do common things together, like sleeping, eating, brushing teeth, and cleaning. You might do fun things together, like going on trips or watching a movie.

Your family are usually the first people you got to know in the world. This is a special kind of love! For this, we included parents, siblings, grandparents, even pets! They are your family too.

「好き」というのは、文字通り、なにかをとても好きになる気持ちのことです。おもちゃ、動物、食べ物、ゲーム…何でも好きになれます。本当に好きなら、「好き」という言葉を使って気持ちを表現するかもしれません。私はサッカーをするのが大好きです。猫ってとっても可愛いですよね、大好きです。オレンジは好きですか？ええ、大好きです。

家族愛もまた、とてもシンプルなものです。家族の一員であるということは、特別な絆で結ばれているということです。一緒に寝たり、食べたり、歯を磨いたり、掃除をしたりといった日常的なことをします。旅行に行ったり、映画を見たりといった楽しいことを一緒にすることもあるでしょう。

家族は、たいていあなたがこの世で最初に出会った人たちです。これは特別な愛です。この愛には、両親、兄弟姉妹、祖父母、そしてペットも含まれます。彼らもあなたの家族なのです。

Finally, we have Friendly love. This kind of love is in between the first two. When we first meet people, we might be strangers to each other. We don’t know them and they don’t know us.

But if we spend time together, go to school together, play games together, talk to them, and get to know them, we develop a friendship. When we strongly care about another person like that, it is a kind of love. It’s the kind of love that makes you want to help them, or protect them, or buy them presents! If they are happy, then you are happy too. 😄

Of course, all our friends at CHES share this relationship!

最後に、友情という愛についてです。この愛は、最初の2つの愛の中間に位置します。初めて会った時、私たちは互いに見知らぬ人かもしれません。お互いのことを何も知りません。

しかし、一緒に時間を過ごしたり、一緒に学校に通ったり、一緒に遊んだり、話したりして、相手のことを知っていくうちに、友情が芽生えます。このように相手を強く思いやる気持ちは、一種の愛と言えるでしょう。それは、相手を助けたい、守りたい、プレゼントを贈りたいと思わせるような愛です。相手が幸せなら、自分も幸せです😄

もちろん、CHESの仲間たちは皆、この友情という関係性を共有しています！

Some games that strengthen our Friendly love

This week at CHES, we talked about these kinds of love, as well as giving many, many examples. We did some brainstorming as well as writing practice.

We also had a chance to play some games that strengthen our Friendly love. We needed teamwork to pass a balloon or a hula hoop through the circle without releasing our hands. We also played a game where one friend would call out something they loved, and everyone who shared that love would stand up and call out “That’s me!”

We read a storybook about a girl who loved herself for who she was, even if she was sometimes not at her best. And plenty more!

What kinds of things to do you love? Sometimes, it’s a good idea to slow down and remember what is really important to you. In June, we’ll be sure to do this as much as possible!

今週のCHESでは、様々な愛の形について話し合い、たくさんの例を挙げました。ブレインストーミングや作文の練習も行いました。

また、友情を深めるためのゲームもいくつかしました。風船やフラフープを手を離さずに輪の中を回すゲームでは、チームワークが求められました。さらに、友だちの一人が好きなものを声に出して言うと、同じものが好きな人はみんな立ち上がって「それって私！」と叫ぶゲームもしました。

ありのままの自分を愛する女の子のお話も読みました。たとえ時々うまくいかないことがあっても、自分を愛する女の子のお話です。他にもたくさんのことをしました。

あなたはどんなことが好きですか？時には立ち止まって、本当に大切なものはなにかを思い出すのも良いことです。6月は、できる限りそうするように心がけてみてはいかがでしょうか😄
