「プリ・クラス」の新年度が始まって1週間。新入生はまだまだ慣れない様子ですが、在園生は進級とともにみんなの意気込みを感じることができました。

先週は雨の日も多かったのですが、天気予報をにらみながら「Cherry Blossom Picnic」を決行。ランチ・タイムをねらって、公園までピクニック行くことに。年長学齢のお兄ちゃん・お姉ちゃんは、年少学齢以下のお友だちの手をしっかり握り無事に歩いて行くことができました。

これから1年、学齢とともにどんどん出来ることも増えていくので、またみんなで楽しんでいきましょうね。

A Pink Picnic in the Park

It was a nice sunny day for our cherry blossom picnic in the park! We had already spent a lot of time enjoying the cherry blossoms this season, so today’s focus was on the picnic side of things. We had plenty of other things to do on a Wednesday, so we made it our job to make sure we were ready.

In the morning, we had a lively circle time with plenty of songs and dances. We are learning some spring-themed dances, as well as days of the week and months of the year songs. We need to think about when our birthdays are so we know when to stand up in the month’s song.

公園でのお花見ピクニックには、絶好の晴天に恵まれました。新年度にはいりすでに何度も桜を楽しんでいたので、今日はピクニックそのものに重点を置きました。水曜日には他にもやることがたくさんあったので、準備を万全に整えることを自分たちの役目としました。

午前中は、たくさんの歌やダンスで賑やかなサークルタイムを過ごしました。春をテーマにしたダンスや、曜日や月の歌を習っています。月の歌を歌う時にいつ立ち上がるか分かるように、自分の誕生日がいつなのか考えなければなりません。

Show and Tells, Singing Class, CHES Library

Then, we listened well while our friends shared some Show and Tells with us. We are still learned how to engage with them and ask good questions, but it is still very interesting to see what everyone wishes to share.

After that, we met our music teacher, Ms. Miyako! She was happy to see us and learn everyone’s names. It was fun to sing songs and do vocal exercises with her, as well as some other fun things.

While one class was with Ms. Miyako, the other class worked on their library books. Today was the first day for our CHES Library, where we will lend books weekly to read at home. I spent some time explaining the reading record in detail, so hopefully we can enjoy reading many books throughout the year.

その後、お友だちが「Show and Tells」を発表するのを、みんなよく聞いていました。まだ、どのように良い質問をすればいいのかを学んでいる最中ですが、みんなが何を共有したいと思っているのかを見るのは、とても興味深いことです。

「Show and Tells」の後には、音楽の先生のMs. Miyakoにお会いしました。先生は私たちに会えて嬉しそうで、みんなの名前を覚えてくれました。先生と一緒に歌を歌ったり、発声練習をしたり、他にも楽しいことをたくさんして、とても楽しかったです。

ひとつのクラスがミヤコ先生と過ごしている間、もう一方のクラスは図書館の本の作業をしていました。今日はCHES Libraryの初日でした。ここでは毎週本を借りて、家で読むことができます。読書記録の書き方を詳しく説明したので、今年一年、たくさんの本を楽しんで読めるといいなと思います。

It was finally time for lunch!

After all that, it was finally time for lunch! And that meant going all the way to the park!

In the morning, we had already made a plan about what we needed to bring and how we would get that ready. So, by the time our music classes were done, we could quickly throw on our bags and be ready to head out.

We marched over to the park with the bright sun overhead. We soon found a good place to set up our mats, and we sat down and had a wonderful lunch together.

すべてが終わった後、いよいよお昼ご飯の時間です。それは公園までお花見に行くことを意味していました。

午前中に、何を持っていくか、どうやって準備するかについてすでに計画を立てていました。そのため、音楽の授業が終わる頃には、さっとリュックを背負って、すぐに出発できる状態になりました。

頭上には明るい太陽が輝き、私たちは公園へと向いました。すぐにマットを敷くのにぴったりの場所を見つけ、座って一緒に素晴らしいランチを楽しむことができました。

The warm sun and cool breeze felt nice. It was a relaxing meal atop a bed of petals from the cherry blossoms trees above us.

Now, we can officially say our school year has begun!

暖かい日差しと涼しい風が心地よかったです。頭上の桜の木から舞い落ちた花びらの絨毯の上で、リラックスしたひとときを過ごしました。

これで、いよいよ新学年が始まったと言えますよね！
